Using Storify (organizing tool) in English
“Gathering information online and making an essay reflects the world of my students; they can use social media sources like Facebook but they mainly learn how to critically look at these Internet sources. The fact that their essay is coupled to a public profile, for peer review, also makes them more aware of the many readers of their work, this had an effect on, inter alia, their use of language. “
Situating the case study
This case study is derived from the program “Teacher training: Secondary Education, Profesional study: English at the Arteveldehogeschool (Higher education). In the second year, students receive an in-depth study of English and American culture in particular, the politics and education. As part of this course students should indulge themselves in one specific topic of their choice. They write an essay about it for which they seek additional information. There was the need for a platform that allowed students to gather their resources to organize and to share the process and the result with their fellow students.
