After having read the modules on analysis and design, you should know what you can do yourself, i.e. you know the potential teaching methods and learning content and you know which learning objects you want to use for this. Now it’s time to see how you can do this.
Here you can take into account:
- Existing material
- Available tools and software
- Available resources (budget, people and time)
- Own experience
- The digital learning environment
In our opinion, you should start from what is ideal for your subject / course and later on, you can ‘limit’ it based on realistic estimates. Furthermore, your own creativity and help from others can help tocreate viable solutions.
We discuss below three steps in commissioning of e-content:
- the teaching materials,
- possible tools to develop these and
- the learning environment in which they are possibly implemented and used.
First, you evaluate whether you can develop yourself or if you will have it developed. Then you have a look at a few tools that you can use and you gain more insight into what the digital learning environment can be. Finally, you’ll get additional information about the search for digital content and issues such as copyright.
